This page provides an overview of the Quality control to ITk Production Database for Type-1 Data Services for ATLAS upgrade.

Type-1 Data Services for Pixel Outer Endcap

The ATLAS ITk upgrade for 2028 requires ~26,000 high-speed (1.28 Gbps) CMD and data links to read out its three subsystems. These links, up to few meters long, must be low-mass, radiation-hard, and meet a 13 dB signal loss budget at 640 MHz. Custom Twinax cables are meeting these demands, featuring 34 AWG copper conductors, a drain wire, an Al shield, and a polyimide jacket that are designed to reduce the electromagnetic interference effects. The Type-1 Data services (uplink and downlink) connects the Patch Panel 0 to the optobox (optical interface that is a part of the data transmission system) that is suited ~2m away from the ITk detector volume.

Type-1 Data Services Quality Control (QC) Test

Type-1 Data Services undergoes a set of QC/QA tests that confirm the quality of the cables. * Visual Inspection Test: Inspecting the quality of the Type-1 Data link using a dedicated microscope. * Mechanical Test: Some of the non-electrical measurement like the mass, length and resistance values can be measured in this test. * Combined Electrical Test: It does not only contain the QC test results but also some of the QA checks to overall qualify the Type-1 Data links. * Quality Control (QC) Electrical tests: Helps to identify the quality of signal transmission via the Eye Diagram. * Quality Assurance (QA) Test: Time Domain Reflectometer is a QA test that helps to detect the faults and discontinuities in the signal transmission. This test is applied only when the Electrical QC test fails. * Connectivity Test: A QA check to cross check the connectivity between the Type-1 Data links connectors

Type-1 Data Services: Quality Control to PDB Interface

The QC to PDB interface for the Type-1 Data Services following basics steps:

  1. Development of the Type-1 Data Bundle Component The Type-1 Data Bundle component is defined in the ITk PDB with the structure provided below:

  2. ITk PDB Component links for each Pixel sub groups for Type-1 Data Links are provided below:

  3. Development of the Type-1 Data Web App

Type-1 Data web app is based on the streamlit multipage theme, its the outcome of the collabrative efforts by the pixel group. This Web App has two main sections. * Register App: One page template to perform the Type-1 Data Component registration in the PDB. * QC App: This section has multiple pages to upload the QC test results into the PDB, for Type-1 Services the QC test are listed above. * Note: A valid ATLAS Component Serial Number is needed in order to proceed with the QC upload.

How to Connect to the Type-1 Web App

Following is the way to setup the Web App locally.

  1. The description of the streamlit Web App template can be found in the README file.
  2. Run the docker image as described in the README file.
  3. Once connected to the local port, it will open a web page
  4. Home page/ Authentication page of the App require your login details. once provided, press the get PDB token button. It will generate a PDB token that will lasts for one day, next time you have to create new one.
  5. The App is deployed on the web via provided Link
