Alternative Stages

Overview

In general, the database assumes that stages will occur in chronological order.

→ e.g. something is received, glued, wirebonded then tested

Conventional Stages

For some component types, this is not the case.

→ e.g. to track items used for irradiation, interchangeable assembly steps, etc

A feature was implemented in the database to allow “alternative stages” to branch off.

Alternative Stages

Test Component

If you would like to play with a component to test the functionality for yourself:

→ feel free to use (strip) “Sensor component for testing” (has two “normal” and four “alternative” stages)

→ remember: first include “Sensor component for testing” in components your institute is allowed to handle

Test Component

Rules - Reception Stage

From an initial, normal (chronological) stage

→ Any alternative stage can be chosen

→ The next chronological stage can be chosen

Reception Stage

Rules: alternative stages

From an alternative stage, any other alternative stage (earlier or later) can be chosen.

→ An earlier chronological (not alternative) stage can NOT be chosen anymore (except by an institute authority)

→ The next chronological stage can be chosen

Alternative Stages

Rules: Normal stages

Again: from a normal stage, any alternative stage (earlier or later) can be chosen next.

→ Going back to an earlier “normal” stage is not possible (except for institute authorities)

Normal Stages

Summary

“Alternative stages” can handle situations where:

→ Stages branch off the chronological order

→ Additional steps are needed for special cases (irradiation, QA, use of powerboards for hybrid testing)

→ Order of stages can be mixed up

From a “normal” stage, a component can move on to the next chronological stage or any alternative stage. From an “alternative” stage, any other alternative stage or the next chronological stage (no earlier chronological stage) can be chosen.
